MEMBERSHIP
The Canadian Canon Law Society has two categories of membership designated as Regular and Honorary members.
Regular members consist of all
canonists and any person interested in canon law whose application for admission
as a member has received the approval of the Executive Board. (By-law 1, § 3)
At this time there are 285 regular members of the Society.
The membership fee - as of 01 January 2008 - for a regular member of the CCLS is
$130.00
CAN/US per year. The fee for those who have attained the age of 65, who
are retired and who have a limited income is $105.00 CAN/US. The second fee also applies to
students.
-
Please note: Upon failure of any member to pay the annual membership fee for two consecutive years, such member shall thereupon cease to be a member. (By-law 1, § 4)
Honorary members shall be those
individuals who are recommended by the Executive Board and approved by the
members at the Annual Meeting (By-law 1, § 3). An Honorary member does not pay
the annual membership fee (By-law 1, § 4) but receives all the mailings of the
Society. If the recipient was already a member of the Society before becoming an
Honorary member, he or she continues enjoying active and passive voice; if the
recipient was not a member of the Society before becoming an Honorary member, he
or she enjoys neither active nor passive voice. (By-law 3, § 20)
